Doc Sweeney

Steve Stecher is a man of few words. Text or email conversations with Steve usually don’t go past a dozen words. He lets his drums do his talking.

Steve and childhood friend Patrick Sweeney spent years together developing skills and a passion for drumming in a drum and bugle corps in the US Midwest. Life eventually sent them in separate directions pursuing different careers, but almost 50 years later their story came full circle with the establishment of Doc Sweeney Drums in 2013.

Steve is the owner and chief designer, Pat is the head of sales and A&R. The company builds high-quality solid wood drums using steam bent, stave and segment shells. Their design studio is in Rancho Santa Fe, California, half an hour north of San Diego, while their manufacturing facilities are in Washington and Kentucky.
